Check The Exclusive Interview Below;
Who is N.I.C ?
In summary, I call myself “A Virtuoso in all Arts”. A virtuoso is someone that does something in a very skillful way. Not only am I into music, I’m also a Portrait/Pencil artist and I explore Poetry.
Artists, have creative mindsets and we seek to express ourselves.
Tell us about your upbringing
I was predominantly raised by my mother, she taught me the value of hard work. I learnt a lot from her and that helps me a lot today.
What about your education/work?
I studied Finance, which I obtained in Igbinedion University Okada, Edo State. I also have a day job in the Financial service industry.
What motivated you to make music?
Its something that is part of me as an artistically focused person. Of course it started through listening to music, liking what I heard and developing interest to make my own. It’s something I can’t run away from. A quote says “An artist must paint, a poet must write and a musician must make music if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself”
So can you describe your music for us?
Nowadays they say we’re rappers, long ago they called us poets. I just make music from the heart and really anything at all can inspire me. I’m not afraid to try out a new sound but above all, I will stick to what I know how to do and that is to send a message across to the listener
Who are your musical mentors?
Wow, that’s a great question. In Africa, I would have to say I like it old school. I’m inspired by Fela and I really like the message Majek Fashek brought to us with his politically concious music. On the foreign scene, I’m a big fan of Bob Marley, however American rapper Nasir Jones (Nas) inspired me in my music.
Which artist would you like to work with?
Well right now, I’d like to work with Jesse Jagz, Pharrel Williams and of course my favourite MC, Nas.
Where do you plan to go with your music?
Music for me is a continuous journey of self-expression, I can tell you where I want to go, but times change and also things around us change. I just want to keep working hard and we’ll see where that goes. But of course yeah I see a bigger picture.
So what is your idea of fun?
I think fun can be achieved anywhere as long as you’re with the right people in the right atmosphere. I like the outdoors, something different from the norm. I like the beach, I like nature. Gurara falls in Niger State for example. But a night out in a lounge is always a good time.
What is your favourite food?
African- Pounded yam with vegetable soup
Foreign-Italian: Consisting of Spaghetti,Pasta with sauces, Pizza, etc.
You’re getting me hungry now (laughs)
So what’s next
Right now I want you all to check out my new mixtape titled “Expectations” which you can download the tracks on www.reverbnation.com/nicentertainment It features my hit singles “Round of Applause”, “Luv U 4 Life”, “That’s Crazy Love” and several other fan favourites (8 Tracks in all).
